Hello,
Wow, so harsh.
You should try living here.....
It's not the location. It's just, some of the people that are the problem...

And, Jeff.
Yes, bi-annual smog checks are a bitch for you folks, in the larger populated counties/areas here in Ca...(I'm not in one, lucky me). Buy an older pre-smog year sub.

Huh...
I thought the biannual smog scheme was completely statewide...I didn't realize there were any exceptions. But yes, I pretty much hate it too, it's not only some of the people (good percentage) but most of the draconian laws.

Yes Sir, to hot rod properly also, I had to get a pre-'75.

Seems like it should only apply in high smog areas. i.e. Sodom and Gomorrah.

How much does it cost ?

Thanks from stoky

It used to be.

I knew a guy that knew a guy, then he had a heart attack and wasn't doing it anymore. Then the subject came up years later with another shop owner's kid and they told me they would do it occasionally for a friend or real good customer now and then, until they got a nasty letter from the state saying it was a warning and they knew the shop was doing it, with these new damn smart computers and analyzers, your own smog tester can apparently look at the exhaust pulse and know it's not from the car you say it is...That's too much up our derrière for my comfort...
The state should just offer a $200 or so hot rod exemption fee. That would be NO different than cap and trade they're trying to sell except we could run big cams and tunes on our computer controlled cars then and it would be out in the open.

My 1989 'burb which I use maybe a few times a year passed today after some talking and the tech guy taking the time to look on-line for a EO number for the throttle body spacer it had on it when I bought it... He wanted to fail me and told me to go home and look up the number and come back... I asked him: 'don't you have a pc?'

Seems nowadays everything has a number that must be inputed somewhere!?

Smog check at a 'Star Only' station cost me $75 bucks and 20 gallons of Super fuel at $3.09/ga cost a bit too... :-(

I was born and for the most part raised in SoCal, I must admit I liked it a lot up till about the early '90s.
But the best move I ever made was leaving in '96, and I'm never moving back.

I still like to visit friends/family, lots of great places to visit and things to do.
Except for not being able to CC, or even bring most any of my firearms for recreation.
None of our old ranges or public land shooting spots are open any longer.
