Remington 552 First Year Produced

Hello folks,

Here's a little gem I received for nothing because of its condition, which was POOR. Stored wrapped in a towel for over 30 years and we all know what happens after that.....so, I was set to restore it as best as I could as all the internals were pristine. I'm happy with the way it turned out and functions beautifully, although it now resides in the corner of my safe, as I fire other modern .22lr platforms instead. No serial number on this, Remington used a letter/symbol to denote month and year. Hope you like it! Thank you.

As a long time lover of Remington rimfires I had to speak up
She looks good , nice not overdone but just right , I'd sure be proud of her
Glad you saved her , I can just imagine wrapped in a towel for 30 years in a humid climate .
552's are sweet little shooters , my Dad had a early 60's 552 , a 21'' ADL
I don't know how many 1000's of rds have been thru her, my brother still shoots her
she's never broken a part or been to a gunsmith
as far as I know it's only been cleaned in almost 60 years !
You should give her a run I think you'd like her
not many ''modern '' 22's can be loaded with a mix of shorts , longs , & long rifles
& fire them all without a hiccup year in year out.
PS... Serial #s weren't required until the GCA act of 1968

ray55classic,

Thank you for your reply!

She came out very nice for sure as I wanted to keep it as "original" as possible. Quite honestly, I have so many rim fire rifles I may just post it on the boards. PM me if you like.
