pellet gun fun

first thank you mods for the new part of the forum other guns.

i shoot pellet guns every day. is cheap quiet and relaxing.
much like playing pool, if you play every day you get pretty good.
i have a 1" silver plated bell 82' from my doorway. i take 10 shots at
it with a scoped RWS mod 45 in .177. then i shoot 10 shots with a
RWS mod 36 in .22. i ring the bell most every time. then snickers
i take 10 shots with my airsoft M14 8 out of 10 if not to windy.
indoors i have a dart board. i shoot .177 darts out of 3 cheap
china made pellet pistols. trick is to have many aiming points
on the dart board. if 2 darts hit each other there fubar..
the 3 pistols, one has a scope glued to it. one has normal sights
and one has no sights on it. 10 or more shots with each one. the
sightless one is from the waist. i get months out of the darts.
i just got a nice RWS p5 pistol from a member here. it will be added
to the outdoor shooting soon. i need to make a grip for it, i am a lefty.
pellets are kind of cheap. the pellet guns are accurate whats not to love..

I agree, they're fun. I have to drive one hour to shoot firearms, but I can shoot my pellet gun from the back deck. It gets really fun after a good rain and things float down river....moving target practice.
I also use it to practice stock camo painting techniques.

Me too

I shoot them quite often , mostly defending my pecan tree from the hoards of squirrels
infesting my neighborhood that will eat every single pecan if left alone.
My flagship rifle is an RWS model 46 in .22 with a Korean Bushnell 6x18 Trophy on top, extremely accurate
but a little too loud & powerful for my backyard @900fps
My everyday shooter is a Beeman RS2 in .22 w/ a Korean Bushnell 2x7 Sportview ,
it's surprisingly accurate ,powerful & well built for a relatively cheap rifle @700fps
For daily practice indoors a Crosman Vigalante 357 in .177 it's a co2 wheelgun
that shoots double & single action and fits my hand like my Dan Wesson model 15
A Colt Commander in .177 co2 to simulate my .45's with.
A Daisy Powerline 1200 bb co2 which looks like a Browning Medalist with a grip angle similar to my Ruger Mk2's .
They all keep me in practice for peanuts plus the rifles are viable survival tools
that can take small game to 50yds with a well placed shot.
You can carry 500rds in a shirt pocket & the same 500rds cost less than $10 , what's not to love?

My favorite air pistol -

Steyr LP1, purchased in about 1995 from the late Don Nygord.

A joy to shoot - but not gonna cut you any slack on technique.

I have my grandpas old Sheridan Silver Streak and a newer (probably 1960’s or 70’s)Blue Streak that has the Steroid upgrade. I think that one will do 900fps. Both are 5mm. I should shoot them more! I’ve hardly had them out since I got into the 30 cals.

cheap practice even with good pellets.
dots with a sharpy on a brown bag makes cheap targets.

Now you guys did it, I had to dig out my Benjamin pump and up grade it!
Williams makes a rear peep sight for it, I am going to order one for it.
I pulled the trigger out of it and clipped one leg off of the spring which made the pull lighter. I took a file and filed the front sight back to give it a brass bead affect and square the sight face, once I get it done I am going to set up a 25 yard target and see what it will do. I know I can hit a 1 5/8 fence post on our chain link fence 9 times out of 10 at about 40 yds so if I can shoot a 1 1/2 group at 25 yds I will be happy.

Casey

Let me know how you like the Williams peep sight. I had the receiver on my blue streak tapped for one when it was upgraded. I never got around to purchasing the sight.

Well I got my rear peep sight for my Benjamin pump and got her mounted up and then took it out to test and walked into a dust devil that covered me in dust.
I am going to try to find time to put it on paper as soon as I can...

Well I took my Benjamin out for a little impromptu bench rest shooting at 10 yards using a bunny ear bag under the forend, I have never been very good with peep sights and it shows. I shot a bunch of 5 shot groups you could cover most of with a nickel with 4 different pellets, considering how bad my eye sight is I felt pretty good with that, I could not keep the front sight in focus. I even tried a piece of tape with a hole punched in it on my glasses, I used a regular hole punch like to put paper in a notebook, I need to figure out how to get a smaller hole with clean edges.
