Got Government Funding for my MATEN build

Last Tuesday the $1200 Government Check came in. So I had to do what I had to do. Spent it before they changed their mind. Went and placed an order to JP Enterprises for full profile 20" barrel in .308Win that comes with bolt and a firing pin, BCG without the bolt, "Detent" Adjustable Gas Block with the fixings (what's a "bottoming tap"? other than plus $5.00) and a few other odds and bits.

Just need to get a muzzle device. Thinking VG6 Gamma but I do wanna use a cage so I may go with the 300BLK? I'll ponder this.

Hand guard. I'm waiting until the barrel and gas block is in my hand. So far Hogue does not make a round free float. Bummer since I do like their rubber bit in the tube hand guard. Looked at Scott Medesha round hand guard DstRflMn645 directed me to.

And a charging handle. Raptor SD has been decided upon. If I didn't forget anything else.

It's nice getting government funding. It made the running total for this build cost less. That is nice.

Since my wife and I were most fortunate as to not lose one day's pay with this COVID madness, I said we should play with our stimulus checks, why not ? Buy what you want, I buy what I want.

I bought an AR pistol upper and a brand new laptop. The laptop was her idea. She said, "Your Laptop is OLD. Look, here are TurboTax sheets from 2008 !!". I never realized how old it was. It's big, clunky, but always fired up.

I bought a new laptop. This one is screaming fast Windows boots full up in less than 4 seconds. It's a whole new world.

And here I was going to buy even more rifle parts.....

MudPie - All that for $1200? I guess just AR pistol upper is about $400.

When I bought my AR pistol (Single Shot Exempt) I thought was silly prices here in California the math for the components didn't add up. If I chose to sell her "they" will be paying the super silly prices. When I leave California she will stay as a thorn in pelosi and newsom collective butts.

My PC is so old but for what I use it for I don't care. If I can play Might And Magic 6 or break out "Star Craft" I'm good.

Yep, I got a PSA 11.5" Nitrited A3 upper with BCG and CH for $303.00 delivered (upper was 279, free shipping). When they have sales, they have sales !! Actually, their prices went up slightly with all the COVID gun buying madness. Last year I bought the same thing but a 10" barrel for $249 on sale.

Wha... Wha... What? Another $1200? How much of a cut will the senators, congress and governors take?

Now if this is to be I may have to buy a period German glass for my Sommer Und Ockenfuss.

To be totally honest, I didn't deserve the first check. I didn't miss out on one days work, I actually had more hours (I'm salary, so no "yay me !" there). My house suffered zero hardship from this.

Did I send it back ? No freakin' way. Will I take the next check if they offer it ? Heck yeah. One of my AR's keeps asking me for a binary trigger...

I'm just wondering how our illustrious government will make this money back from us, they'll find some way; ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

A day early (Thursday) I got the package from JP Enterprises (yay USPS). Now that I got the barrel and gas block I measured out what length (measured 14.5") hand guard I want 15" so I got easy access to the gas block adjustment screw.

It's between Hogue, Parallax Tactical or Juggernaut Tactical (I think JT bought what was left of PT?) and maybe Daniel Defense?

Brownell's is out of the Raptor charging handle I want. How crazy is it that they're over $100?

Planning to bead blast the barrel this weekend. If I get a nice matte I may keep that other wise black engine block paint. While doing that I'll also lap the scope rings. The mount I got has odd residue like someone use loc tite in side the rings. Maybe while I'm out rattle caning I'll pretty up some ammo boxes.

ColdWarPigGnR - At least "most" of the cash ain't coming out of your pocket.

Found MSR Arms has the Radian Raptor SD in stock. While I was looking for "other" charging handle option I came across a old post by Daily Shooter doing a review. Had that playing in the background when dude mentioned he had a discount code. So I went and looked to see if they had it in stock, if so would the code work? Yup and yup.

https://msrarms.com/?s=Radian+Raptor

discount code TDS5

Mine came up $120.25 (cheaper than Brownells before tax, and shipping). I thought about getting the "SL" but with the scope lives right above the charging handle I figured go for the Dumbo ears.
