Ultimak vs. Fulton rail. Help me decide.

Hey folks,

Just wanted some opinions on both of these and maybe some user feedback. I have a scout squad that the rail would be going on with a Holosun 507C RDS and I just can't make a decision.

It seems that the Ultimak is more popular possibly because it will co-witness with most Red dots but I was leaning toward the fulton as it has the option to add side rails for a weapon light.

I am totally new to the M1A/M14 and want to make my scout a little more "tactical" and maneuverable.

I was also looking at the M14.CA scout rail as I may get one of those chassis systems in the future but with the legislation pass recently in Canada I don't know how much longer that company will be around.

I just don't know so any help is appreciated let me know what you are running and your likes/dislikes.

Thanks in advance

-John

The Ultimak is a lower mount, if that's important to you. I really REALLY like the Ultimak one, and it's the lighter weight of the two. If you want to side mount something there are angled rail adapters that can be used. I have an Ultimak M8 for sale in the PX section of these forums.

I also have a m14.ca SHG, which I was forced into when I got a medium-weight barrel (the Ultimak doesn't fit anymore, which is the only reason it's not on my rifle now). I do like its design, but it's not as low or light as the Ultimak.

Thanks from stoky

I really like the Ultimak. It's low and sturdy. With its multiple clamping points, I found it added a little more rigidity to the Socom barrel.

Thanks for the replies all. I may take a look at the Vltor rail system as well but the Ultimak has peaked my interest

I have owned the m14.ca and the ultimak. Both were built well but I had to get rid of the ultimak because my Bula rifle has a modified gi profile barrel that doesnít fit the ultimak. Sold it and got the m14.ca. I really like it. If you ever plan on getting the black feather in the future you should just get the m14.ca now. The ultimak and vltor wonít work with the black feather because of the op rod guide. Iím hoping that Canada can get that crap overturned before the 2 year grace period is over. Truly feel sorry for them.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you said that about the blackfeather compatibility because I have been taking a serious look at those.

I hope they get that overturned as well as the m14.ca stuff looks like quality components to upgrade the rifle system.
