Bula Defense gone from here? What happened?

This is a discussion on Bula Defense gone from here? What happened? within the The M14 forums, part of the M14 M1A Forum category; I see no longer a site supporter. What happened ? Do they still hook us up with sales on parts sets?...

Bula is still working to supply us with quality M14 parts.
Jeff decided that he did not have the time to give the Bula Vendors area the attention that it deserves and asked to have Bula Defense Systems removed. He is busy building rifles and parts inventory.
I happen to have a bunch of parts due into my place via UPS today.
They hope to soon have their online store updated. Until that time parts and rifle builds are available over their listed phone number. Linda that works in their office is great to deal with.

I was given permission to put the Bula logo on some of my sight covers. Pretty cool.

Going to have to wait and see on that one. We've been surprised before. Nice thing is , we know they will do the best they can for our beloved rifle.

I'm sure Bula gets plenty of advertising via word of mouth. There are Bula parts around. I have Bula bolts and chrome lined barrels in stock. I see Bula is starting to get back into parts production as well.

I cannot speak for anyone, but my speculation is that they no longer sell receivers because of the inherent customer support cost involved in educating buyers, in that while an experienced assembler/armoror/gunsmith will directly deal with 'fitting' issues, which seem to be fairly common, across all manufacturers, your average hobbyist like myself will suck up all sorts of time seeking expertise, often considering a fitment issue defective, and there may indeed be a an defect, time to time, but where a known party can not only more quickly make that determination, Bula (or any vendor) can also trust that known party and not spend their own time making that determination.

If I did want just a Bula receiver, I would talk to TonyBen about it, and see if something can be worked out, as far as maybe paying him to do a complete parts fitting inspection, as well as determining that he's comfortable with experience/skill level of the person putting it together, so that if there is any issue, he can be assured that he can assist working through it, on the clock or not, and buffer Bula from the additional overhead. If it were me, I would expect to pay for this process, and even so still wouldn't hold it against TonyBen if he didn't want to participate in such a thing. It will undoubtedly add cost, one way or another, as it adds time, but if I wanted a raw Bula receiver, that's what I would pursue. Building your own has never been about cost-effectiveness anyway.

It's a long way off, as other obligations often come up, and right now is a wave of non-m14 type items, but at such time I get to an XM-21 receiver, I would definitely want it to go through TonyBen's inspection for fitting of associated parts before assembly, at the very least, before I even took ownership, and maybe simply have him do bolt and barrel spin up/fitting/headspace anyway, as he seem to be good at it, and I've never even used a reamer. Plus, the one time I built on a Bula receiver, I had to appeal to both him and Josh anyway for both assurance and technique, so why not get it out of the way on the front end instead of getting stuck halfway and frustrated?

Just my pennies, take them where you may, or leave them on the table.

I am just amazed at the before and after appearance of Bula's XM21.
Photo shows an XM21 with a raw forging and a gas cylinder and raw forging. Now making something out of that would be a real diy project.
Whatta Hobby!

Happy to have this one in the collection. I have a feeling that someone knew I wasn't smart enough to do anything with it but use it to hold down my office desk.

Forgings

I always thought it was cool to collect prototypes and production samples. Here are a couple of things from my collection. The big long forging is from GunWorks of LA and you can see why they cost so much to produce. The other picture is from my LRB collection. The receiver forging is the original style which has been changed, but the bolt and gas cylinder forgings are still being used.
