I'm sure everyones seen a few of these... but I got the SEI gas lock/front sight and flash hider installed on the Scout today and I'm really digging it. Also removed the scout rail and put on a vented hand guard from Treeline. That was sort of an aesthetic decision and I plan to try out the Ultimak or some other forward mount eventually but I gotta say the rifle feels pretty awesome right now. I should probably get a wood stock but I'm not some incredible marksman and I think this set up is going to tick a lot of boxes for me. Nimble and powerful. Pretty cool. Still messing with the sling attachments.
Thanks.

I remember back in the 1980’s when I was sorely disappointed that Ruger failed to make the mini 14 in .308. The 7.62 X39. Just was not it.

A couple years ago, I lustfully sought a SA scout, with the nifty 18 inch barrel! Found a used one at the Sidney NE Cabela’s. (Home town to Dick Cabala). Bought that bad boy and barely had the gas to get home.

Shot that rude, loud, obnoxious brute about 30 times in one outing, and promptly sold it. That sucker was so loud I just could not take it. Ruger got lucky, the mini would have given people concussion injuries!

Dogear, I do like your Scout. I am just not man enough to shoot them. I was a mortarman in a 577, sat right in front of the tube doing fire control. That was quiet compared to the scout.

Haha, yeah it's loud. That's part of the reason I went to the flash hider. Won't do much but the brake is brutal. Someday I'll get a suppressor.

Just an idea for sling.......before I scoped my scout length LRB , I used a single point sling hooked on a spare swivel I mounted on side of stock.

Hmm, good idea. Wonder how well the noodle stock would handle that. I searched high and low for these adapters and found ColdSteelTactical they're a vet owned business in Michigan. He sells those end pieces as a unit without a sling. Which is nice. With those and a quick adjust sling you can really get a lot of carry options for hiking.
