Hooded rear sight adjustment??

Im kind of embarrassed to admit this BUT....hahah Ive had my m1A for years and a few years ago I swapped out the rear NM sight to a hooded 520 NM sight. I just realized that the hood itself has a notch that can be at either 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock. ITs meant to turn because it has a firm detent ball I can feel lock in place as I turn it. What is this for? it doesn't seem to do anything I can notice.
Thank you

Adjusting/twisting the hood will give you a 1/2 MOA adjustment....

Thanks from maxaks

Awards Showcase

Moving it from 'notch DOWN to notch UP' adds 1/2 moa elevation.

One thing to check is that you got positive movement on the elevation knob in both directions. I shot a couple matches where the knob had some slack and I just about went nuts before I realized what was happening.

Go to take a half minute off by moving the knob a click down and rotating the notch up and the bullets would go higher!
