There was no proper leather sling for the M14. The standard issue sling was the cotton web sling. Only MATCH rifles used the leather sling.

If you're looking for a National Match sling, I've got a couple of these and am more than happy with them.

Generally, I avoid E-bay slings but here's at least one vote of confidence for the product. Is it just me or did Turner slings suddenly get crazy expensive lately?

Thanks from Novak77

Depends on your size. I find that the 50" or 52" works for me on M14's.

Original USGI 1907 slings came anywhere from 48 to 52in.

Correct, for me 56in fits best when using it on any of the men's rifles. If your going too swap the sling between your Springfield 03, M14/M1A/M1 onto your Ar15 your going too need too add another 2in because that front sling swivel is that much higher.

Thanks from unkola and scalovich

If I may...

I too am wanting to sling my M14, but I'm stuck between the nostalgia of the USGI sling and the sexyness of the leather. My LRB Classic has a fiberglass stock.

My rifle will see hard use, eventually. I like to hike around my woods with a slung rifle, so which would better suit my needs?

(Sorry for the high jack.)

EDIT:
I need more of a carry sling, than a shooting aide.
Thanks.

If all you want is a carry sling, an M1 sling is probably a better choice. Another option is a Turner biothane sling. They have the looks of an M1907 sling but they are weather proof.

Is it just me, or is the M14 a particularly uncomfortable rifle to carry slung while hiking at a good pace? I've tried a bunch of different slings, settled on a Turner Biothane as what works best for me as a shooting sling, but nothing I've tried yet is satisfactory as a field carry sling.

Thanks from cheaptrick
