Hi,
If you like to tinker, I would get a small safe sided file and get the flat bottom FPS from EGW.

It has to be fitted as noted but is very nice and worth the work.

As far as the Brazilian Forged SA frames from IMBEL, they were actually excellent. (my opinion!)

From what I can find out on the different 1911 Forums, SA is now using forged frames from Dasan, a S.Korean company, with a factory outside of Atlanta.(made in the USA! Ha!,Ha!)

These are also excellent and used by many top name Gun Builders!

Of course this is all hush, hush, "Secret Squirrel" kind of stuff, and with no clarification from these company's themselves???

I have banged a lot of 1911's & never had or seen a FP Stop break or crack , but everything has a service life . Just not sure what or how they are made now a days . My stock of 1911 parts is all USGI surplus parts in my bins , mostly still in cosmoline .

I've never had one break , or even remember seeing a 1911 FP stop break , but I do know they are far more common on BHP's. I've replaced many over the years with one from Cylinder & Slide.

What does a forged part look like?

Call Springfield and mail them the part. They will send you a replacement for free.

I emailed them a picture of the broken part and sent them my contact information and never heard back from them. I know SA's customer service is usually very good but I'll chalk up this experience to the virus situation and maybe they're short staffed.

Hi,
Hmmm....Why would you want to replace it with the same thing that failed in the first place???

Never heard of the problem until this posting but GI and Colt 11s and A1s are all I've over shot. Don't recall ever having heard of a cracked firing pin stop in the Marines either. Hard to imagine a milled forging doing this, even with replaced parts in the firing pin or hammer assemblies. At least they're cheap.

I had already ordered the part and was making them aware of the issue I was having. Considering the good things I've heard about SA customer service, they would want to know.

Installed the new part tonight and it fit like a glove. Ended up going with the Wilson combat.
