Hmmm, the salesman at the gun store said it was Trump's China travel ban blocking all the teriyaki jerky and counterfeit product vendors from setting up at the show...The only two people left were the guy with a stack of Army surplus fatigues and the lady selling dreamcatchers and driftwood sculptures.

I bet the states politicians are just crying their eyes out over the closing of gunshows. Tears of joy no doubt.

I know about all the beef jerky and stuff, and I kindly decline and walk by...There are some trips I find some nice M14 parts at a decent price, just gotta ask, not always but sometimes I will score some good stuff. It's also not about just that, I meet a few other SoCal guys from here at the show....

I am waiting to hear on Knob Creek, but it is likely they are waiting to see if the Governor shuts down all large gatherings in KY. It's still on, if anyone bothers to show. I've held off booking my flights, so far. Really annoying, this pandemic business.

Sad. Del Mar used to be a great show. When I was a kid at the Del Mar show my dad loaned me some money so I could get my first M1 Garand there.

It makes me sick what has happened to CA. We saw the handwriting on the wall and left 15 years ago. I canít even go back to my home town. It looks like a foreign country, and would only make me mad if I went back. Itís all gone.

Pomona was amazing up through about the mid to late ‘90s. You could buy a gun in the morning and hit San Gabriel Valley Gun Club in the afternoon. Of course it’s gone now too. Dirtbag yuppies moved next door to a shooting range, then complained about the noise. Of course money talks and the housing developers bribe money paid off local government officials hungry for more development and tax revenue. The government put the heat on the rock quarry that leased the land to the gun club so they lost their lease and ended up closing.

Ah, you guys must be too young to remember when the Great Western Show was held at the Great Western Exhibit Center in the City of Commerce. Pomona was the second location, after the GWEC was torn down to build something more profitable. Us old guys remember the show from the 70s.

Yeah, I didn't start going to gun shows until the early '90s.

My boss & I would take Friday off & go to the Great Western Gun show (Pomona)

We would come back for the rest of the weekend too!

I miss that place!

Move out of Calif in 95" to Texas, lots of gun show here but you can walk through them in 45 minutes! just not the same!

Thanks from m14brian

Who you calling old? Oh, just checked my drivers license. Disregard. I was there the day the East LA Riots started six blocks south of the location. Total panic set in when it was rumored there was a mass of gang members headed there to steal guns. People just couldn't decide which guns to load up for repelling a mob assault.

Well, glad I am not the only one, lol. I bought a few pieces at that show, over the years. I think those are all long gone, mostly I sold one to buy something else more expensive when I was young and poor. (As opposed to "old" and poor. But at least I don't sell one to get the next anymore!)

I remember a group of guys who had a booth there with all the cool British stuff, uniforms and all. Plenty of No 1 Mk III and No 4 Mk I rifles, including the Ts in the wood box. Not sure if I bought it at that show or at a dealer, but in the late 70s I had a nice No 4 Mk I T without the box, but IIRC the scope and rifle matched. Sold it for a profit, at a price that is a tiny fraction of what it would be worth today. Always thought I'd replace it with one in the box, but never did.

Thanks from smleenfield
