Since it's colder than the dickens down here I thought I'd post my current wind chill for y'all. Then I thought better of it because I knew that RAMMAC would pull one of these on me GI1:

Why, when I was a boy, it got so cold, if you took a pee outdoors, you had to knock the icicle off your equipment before you zipped up. Dang kids these days don't know what cold really is.

When I worked seismic survey up in northern Alberta and B.C., we had one winter season when it never got warmer than 30 below zero for over two months straight. Usually 40- 45 below zero at night.

We refueled our equipment before bed, and ran everything 24 / 7 / 365, because if you shut down a vehicle, no way you would get it running again unless it went into the shop, got jacked up, and had a couple construction heaters firing at the engine bay for a few hours to thaw it out, and thin up the oil enough to get it to turn over.

Weird things happen to metal at those temperatures too. Stuff would shatter, break, and do goofy stuff relative to what you would expect anywhere else in the world.

It's been pretty warm these past few weeks...32.9 right now and the glacier is slowly crawling off the roof.

Coldest I've been exposed to was Deadhorse, Alaska right after Christmas. It was -65F and a 30mph wind!! Not sure what that equaled, but I had spilled water on my coveralls leg and it turned solid in about 3 seconds out there, while crossing a small yard to another building.

32.9 is downright balmy for January.

Same here. -28 @8am. -55WC.
I guess it helps me with my battery situation. Time for some new ones.

Sorry Mike but I'm getting beat out by the midwest today. I heard that it's so cold back there that they had to stop delivering beer because it's freezing on the trucks.

I woke up to -4 this morning (-7 with the little breezes we had) and it got up to freezing but now we are starting to cool off again.

The horrors!! That's when it's time to start sipping, not just good, but great single malt scotch, bourbon, brandy and cognac. Not necessarily in that order.ALCOHOLIC1 -Lloyd BEERCHUG1

-15 right now. It was -25 with a WC of -50 or more this morning. Eh, it was a balmy 0 on Sunday and I went ice fishing. More like ice drinking. Didn't get a fish, but we caught some beer. It was 80 or so in the ice house -boiled water, which made it like a sauna.

It must be my Scandinavian genes, but 0 F didn't feel that bad walking around on the lake. It wasn't windy though. Anything -10 or more is just cold. I can't tell the difference between -10 and lower.

BUT, it will be 40 or so this weekend! Maybe some trigger time!

Dunno about you guys, but I know this… it ain't cold enough for all this cucking and hysteria. IT IS WINTER. THIS IS WHAT WINTER DOES. THIS HAPPENS. When I want to hear the weather I don't want to hear "wind chill" - I want degrees in American Fahrenheit. Not Celsius from some cuck or shrike with a UK accent, or worse. I swear this Country is so full of Cucks and weaklings it’s coming apart at the seams. Sickening. It’s like a national emergency enough to fly the Flag at half staff. The this... the that... the whatever the CENSOREDGI. Give me a Break. All this rampant pfhagotry makes me SICK. I remember Christmas shopping back in Brooklyn in like 1984 walking back home in snow well over me ankles all of us loaded with shopping bags. Cold in the teens. Wind (B)lowin'. The BMT/R train through our neighborhood was jammed up on the Manhattan side told us and the buses were SLOW and because of it too crowded to even get on and stand. With me was me Uncle Joe (RIP) and me Grandmother (RIP) who at the time was (76) years old retired a year earlier from Pepsi. So, we WALKED from 89th St.and the Brooklyn-Queens Expwy. home to Bay Ridge on 56th St.- Down 33/over 4. We stopped for pizza on the way. I can still see the steamed up window with the colored Christmas lites inside.Somehow we actually made it home alive.
Deeper than this time....

According to the Weather Channel it's 14 F here in central VA.

I haven't used the flashlight to look at the thermometer out on the deck because I don't want to disturb the dogs out of their warm/dry beds (if they are sleeping inside the dog house.)

Got up the other morning (about 4 days ago) and it was 22 F out there. One of the dogs was curled up in the grass in the corner of the dog pen. He's black (supposed to be half black lab and half golden retriever) and it was easy to see the frost on the back of his neck/shoulders. He'll sleep inside the dog house if it's raining, but he does most of his sleeping on the dog house porch or out in the grass of the dog pen.

We've got a new dog that keeps an eye on the other two all night (it's his job, don't you know). Sometimes he'll be standing there real still sniffing the air, listening for something, just looking around, and other times he'll be lying beside one or the other of the two older dogs.

When we had that 11 or 12 inches of snow about a month ago he and the bigger of the two older dogs were lying out in the snow sleeping one time.

I guess the carpeted floors and insulated walls/floors of the dog houses are a little stuffy some times, when you've got that much hair.

Supposed to get up to 32 F today, around 2 or 3 PM and then drop off again over night. Supposed to get up to around 45 F tomorrow. A real heat wave, I bet.
