As the duty Officer in Plekiu I saw a report where a young airborne trooper was teasing a ape when the ape all of o sudden grabbed his M-16 away from him and beat him to death.
I would get monkeys in my hootch and they would tear my stuff up.
Pay back was great we would shoot them!
I went to shoot one, and he covered his eyes with his hands. He was eating something from home that my mother sent.
as cute as it was- he died.
Some would just crap all over you bedding, I hated them.
to me they were the real enemy.

I know it's kind of Bad Humor on my part...but I was 'over there' and believe me there's lots of 'Foxhole Humor' in a Combat Zone...And My Brain Keeps Coming Back To This Post!?

Not a war or a monkey story, but pertinent. I was in Cambodia about 12 years ago and saw the biggest spider I ever want to see. It was hanging in its web over the building next to my "hotel". It was at least 16 inches across. I did not sleep well that night.

We had some guy in Afghanistan buy a damn monkey at the bazaar. People would spot it outside on the way to the latrine and finally after a week or so the CoC found out and got rid of it. Pictures of that damn thing ended up in the preventative medicine briefings.
