Hawaii 1970, 5 days 6 nights, a little jumpy at first.

IMHO some of the absolute best liberty/R&R for a WestPac sailor in the 60's and 70's was Kaohsiung and Keelung/Taipei, Sasebo and Yokosuka, Japan, and Sydney, Australia. I'd have to say though, that Sasebo on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu was my all time favorite.

when I was in Afghanistan we went to Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar, and we went to Dubai when I was in Iraq. Dubai was a hell of a lot more fun than Qatar.

Headed to Kuala Lampur.
Got sent to Taiwan, it rained a lot.
You had to watch your money-the big 2 dollar bill looking things were about 5 bucks, US.
