Hmmmm, very similar to the original L118A1 Light Gun brake....

The real problem with the M119 is that it uses the same ammunition configuration as the M101, which is the same gun as the the pre-WW2 M2A1. Which means our 105mm artillery has not improved much in 75 years.

The British L118 (on which the M119 is based) uses a slightly newer design of 105mm ammunition, (it's only 50 years old). The L118, with 'charge Super' has a maximum range of 17,000 meters, out-ranging the US 105s by 3-1/2 kilometers. (Not including RAP projectiles)

I cut my teeth on the M102 @ Bragg. I preferred it to the M119 less moving parts although the range was less. You know what they say about red legs, " you can lock them in a padded room with two bowling balls and come back later, and one will be broke and the other pregnant." Cheers Joe
