Great photos, thanks for the link. I don't know whether to be glad those kids can use their metal detectors to find and avoid unexploded ordinance or to worry those kids can use their metal detectors to find and try to recover unexploded ordinance. If you know what I mean.

Wow, great site, thank you for sharing. I have wondered if there will ever come a day when I can go back to Afghanistan on travel and tour our old battlefields. I doubt it.

Awards Showcase

I forwarded them last week to a VN Vet buddy who served in the Combat Engineers there during Operation Lam Son 719...
He said he recognized some of his old 'stomping grounds'!

Thanks again for posting them!

Wonder what the life span is for the guys that cut up all those unexploded bombs?

Pretty interesting pictures. It's hard to imagine that much stuff just laying around over there. But they still find German bombs in London so I guess it's logical to find so much still in Vietnam.

First, it was very Remote then, and still is today!
Secondly, there was an incredible lot of 'stuff' left over there after Operation Lam Son 719...
It's a very interesting (cautionary)tale if you have 30 minutes to read about it...
My friend talks about it every now and then when he's had his ration of beer and his wife's not around...('My Time' was '68-'69...His was later.)

Edit: If anyone reads the article...you will see the little cross-roads town of Tchephone mentioned.
The following link is to a really cool song about a Fighter Jock and Tchephone, one of my favorites!

Stu?
Do you have any more specifics on that?
Info from web-sites or articles, especially what years...
I would be interested in knowing...
