I have followed this thread as I use BAMC as my prime provider and was hoping to get back from overseas and look up this fine man. I am deeply moved by all of this and forward my prayers and profound condolences to the family.Rest in piece Duncan.
I am also moved as to the brotherhood and caring that is exhibited on this forum and feel privilged to be a small part of it.

From the moment we found out Duncan had been wounded and I asked for prayers for him and his family, the out pouring of love and offers to help were overwhelming. I knew then that I had been blessed by finding this forum. Thank you all once again. For all who knew Duncan, there is a terrible empty spot in their hearts that will take a good deal of time to heal. The world is truly a little sadder place at the loss of this great young man. Semper Fi.

If memory serves Duncan's 20th birthday would have been yesterday (Saturday). Don't know why that just flashed on me.

Here's the info on services for Duncan. Quote:
Dear Family and Friends,
This is my last and final email... Thank you for all the prayers and support for our Duncan and for our family over the last 5 months. The army flew Duncan home this afternoon and he was greeted with honors and by family. We are glad to have him home to put his body to rest. Below is the information for the services which will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008.
Funeral Services will be help at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2710 S. Monaco Parkway, Denver, 80235 beginning at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place after the services at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Sheridan, CO.
A reception and celebration of Duncan's life will take place after the burial back at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We will have a slideshow of photos to remember our Duncan and balloon send-off.
Joe Mixon, Duncan's battle buddy and his sister, Alisha, will be attending the services. Lets welcome them both and make them feel at home.
We have been asked by many where to send flowers and donations. We ask that flowers be sent to the funeral services at Jesus Christ of LDS. We did not set up a memorial in Duncan's name but for anyone who feels the need to make a donation, please pick a charity special to you and make a donation in Duncan's name. Also, others have asked where to send cards to Meaghun. Those can be sent to 675 S. Dale Ct, Denver, CO 80219. Cards be sent to Leesha & Chris Crookston and their family at 1518 S. Jasmine Street, CO 80224. Thank the Lord for getting us through these tough times and those to follow. Thank the Lord for the extra time He gave us with Duncan and thank the Lord for taking Duncan home to rest when he couldn't fight anymore. God Bless, The Valdez Family, Dave & Barb

Duncan was laid to rest with full honors today. It was a very nice service. His Army buddy Mixon was able to attend. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Rest in peace, warrior.

I'm glad you were able to go and give us a report to all of us who could just be there in spirit.
Thanks,

Groundhog, you were the anchor for us up here in Denver while Duncan was there in San Antonio. We will be forever greatful for your kindness shown to this family in their time of stress. Thank you. Semper Fi. Bruce

Let us not forget to pray daily for those still in harms way and those in the hospitals around our nation. I know I'm a better man then I was before simply because of this experience. |

To the family of PFC. Duncan Crookston,
I am terribly saddened by your loss. This world is a lesser place without Duncan I'm sure. You have my sincere condolences.

A little more info I left out. Sorry. Long day. Duncan was promoted to Cpl., the funeral was attended by hundreds, including Colo.Lt.Gov.Barbara O'Brien, Rep. Diane DiGette(sic), at the bottom of the Celebration of Life memorial is:
"REMEMBER ME AND NOT MY FATE". The motorcycle clubs (military type), sorry don't have the names, did a fantastic job helping police block intersections, etc. and providing security for the long procession to Ft Logan National Cemetary which was quite a distance to travel. If the names come to mind will edit this. Semper Fi, Bruce
