Thumbs up Vietnam Memorial moving Wall, New Mexico

The Vietnam Memorial moving Wall is going to be in New Mexico from the 17th to the 21st of October. It's going to be located in the City of Rio Rancho, at the Sports Complex. It's free for all to view...

The City of Rio Rancho is located about 15 miles northwest of Albuquerque, The main road through Rio Rancho is HWY 528, the Sports Complex is 1 mile off HWY 528 on High Resort Blvd. on the right side of the road... I'm going to be visiting it again on the 20th and 21st.

Worth seeing. Several years ago the Traveling Wall was nearby. The local unit of the American Legion Riders were there as well as our Honor Guard. Legion Riders formed up and were escorting older ladies up to the Wall. Not really knowing right away what was going on, but it didn't take this smart guy long to figure it out, but these were all local "Gold Star" mothers, and they all stopped in front of the Wall where their son's name was engraved. To see these American moms touching their son's names on that black granite wall was quite emotional. Not too many dry eyes that day.....
God bless all of our Vietnam veterans.

Thanks from Squid and CAVman

Went when it was at the Northport VA. Went to the real one last Memorial Day. Rhode down for rolling thunder. Never saw so many vets in one place. If you ever get the opportunity it's worth the trip. Arlington was packed as well. You can't be human and not shed tears in Washington on that weekend

Thumbs up

SP4 Thomas Washington Lipsey III, A battery, 2nd Battalion, 94th Field Artillery, 101st Airborne Division, FSB Bastone, in the Thua Thien Province located 18 miles southwest of Camp Eagle. Died 6th Feb. 1972, Panel 02W - Line 104

While on a fire mission in support of American troops. When the round was fired the barrel (tube) split in half and drove the breech (weighing several tons) backwards into Tom standing right behind the Gun and the brem, the explosion also injuring three other crew members in the Gun crew.

You're not forgotten, RIP Tom
