Veteran receives Purple Heart, 43 years later

More than 43 years after he was hit in the neck by a flying piece of shrapnel during a mortar attack in South Vietnam, the United States military gave Calvin Newman the Purple Heart he had earned that awful day.

Well, better late than never, I guess. It's a shame that the medal wasn't presented to him, though - kinda crappy getting it in the mail!

Notice that the VA got him his award, very cool thing. They may not be the best all the time but there are many in the VA that really do try to do the best they can for our vets...my wife is one of them.

Thanks from GARRARD
