A Michigan soldier who died in the Korean War has been buried six decades later at Arlington National Cemetery.
The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office recently returned the remains of 27-year-old Army Cpl. A.V. Scott of Detroit to his family.
At Thursday’s funeral, Army chaplain Clark Sneed presented a flag from the casket to Scott’s half-brother, Rudolph Caldwell.
Scott was with the 2nd Infantry Division on Feb. 12, 1951, and was supplying friendly forces about 70 miles east of Seoul when Chinese forces attacked, capturing him.
The Pentagon says Scott was marched to a prisoner-of-war camp in Suan County, North Korea. It says surviving prisoners reported Scott died in April 1951.
North Korea gave the U.S. multiple remains in 1991-94. He was identified with dental and DNA evidence.
