Cool retired pay and government shut down

For those who were retired during the 1995 government shutdown, did it affect retired or disability pay / direct deposit in any way?

...all healthcare services will be available despite a shutdown since money was already put toward VA healthcare in advance. Disability and pensions also are protected, Tarantino said, because the Justice Department concluded back in the 1990s that these payments are "property" that belongs to the veteran or eligible dependent.
The only effect that the shutdown has is on non-essential services, retirement pay will continue. This is just another scare tactic by that fanatic Pelosi and her allies. Anything out of a liberal's mouth is a lie. The last time this happened I was active duty and I continued to receive my pay and benefits, the only difference was that some civilian workers were put on leave and we were restricted from spending any new monies. If something was already budgeted and scheduled it continued, just like our benefits.

That's exactly right. "Government Shutdown" is a big misnomer.

Normally a shutdown would not affect SS, retirement, ect. Whether it will now(if it does happen) is at the descretion of the president. He can shut it all down if he chooses to do so.

My military retirement check is now $30 less per month due to more obama taxes if that is what you are asking. I retired in 1992.

Military pensions should not be taxed.

Don't pay social security on my retirement but do pay income tax. That is a fact.

To answer the OP's question, no. In 1995 I saw no adverse effect on retired pay deposits or allotments. Business as usual.
