Comments: Worked 22 years as a DAC after retiring from the Army. First as a Test Plan Analyst and Equipment Specialist at Ft Knox and the last 15 as an Operational Tester at Ft Hood TX. In my second retirement I now collect, reload for, and shoot my old rifles because the Army would not let me bring an M60A1 MBT home to play with after I retired in 83.

Navy small arms training for my boot camp company (57-46) consisted of familiarization only. We fired the .22 rifle, .45 auto. Training was one day, class in the morning, shoot in the afternoon. Ten rounds for the rifle, one clip for the .45. I'd hunted as a teenager, and been on the AFROTC rifle team at university before enlistment.

MOS: Started as a 43131C (Jet Aircraft Maint Specialist One and Two Engines ((made me "just" a fighter mech)), moved up to the next level as a 43151C, then as a seven level techinician. Then as my time came to a close, they changed the AFSC to a 45274M. That tied in the hydraulic maint types the jet engine mechs and crew chiefs as one big happly family, working on the the Phantom.
M-16 Expert
.38 Expert (thanks to being fingered as a cargo courier)
M-14 qualified (thanks to being assigned to a Navy Base and
having to be a part of the ground defense force. Only
happend during my first tour there. Second tour, we
suddenly became, "mission critical" and not allowed to
be part of the GDF.
Got fam training on M-60. Same reason as the M-14
Worked as a crew chief line mechanic on F-4 Phantoms. Got a chance to work on all of the types the Air Force ever had, and a couple of them that didnt belong to us. Like the F-4K and M from the Brits, the F-4F that was strictly a Luftwaffe version. Best time spent overseas was my two tours in Iceland assigned to the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron.

As a Medic I was allowed to qualifi with whatever weapons were on the ranges that I was at. ( Great Plan) I also worked with the U. S Border Patrol Tacital Team, and I was allowed to train with Them as well. That was a really Great experiance, and I was able to do some things that normal Military Personel were not allowed to do. I was able to get Air Assault Quailified with Them. Plus I was able to get Qualified in some exotic weapons, not normally open to the average G.I.
