I was hoping you could help me with a dilemma. I am looking at getting another m1a, and am torn between a loaded sa; or a kit from wcs, a receiver, kreiger med from midway, and the rest from where I can scrounge the parts. Any guidance? Thanks lav

Tony: just wanted to express my thanks for the various videos as well as other comments you have included on this forum. I am new to this forum, and (except for a couple of years back in the 60's) am new to the m14/M1A. Recently purchased a Springfield Armory standard version and I'm now in the process of replacing some parts, springs, etc., and waiting for the gas system tools you recommend to arrive. I live in the same area as you, and I was wondering in you might know of any stores locally that would be a good source of "stuff" for the m1a. Thanks again for all the information you have passed along.....JKL

hey. Im new here and I was hunting around and saw your name and it looked familiar and I figured out that you have posted a few videos on youtube for teardown, cleaning, etc for these rifles. I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for posting those videos, they really helped me understand these rifles!

    Hi Tony.

I've read a couple of posts from you explaining how to shim the gas cylinder. My question is this: if you use too much shim so that lockup starts much earlier than the 5 or 5:30 position, what happens in terms of accuracy? You mention that it can negatively affect accuracy, but how is that condition expressed by the rifle?

    Thanks.

    Tony,
I'm new to the M14/M1A platform and knew little-to-nothing about it when I acquired one by pure luck. Just wanted to directly thank you in particular for your threads and YouTube videos on how to work with these rifles. Obviously my experience with this rifle is still in its infancy, but you helped me get my feet on the ground and get going. So thanks :)

I am looking for a lower portion of the troy battle stock. I have a springfield m1a scout with original springfield stock. I have the troy battle rail on top. Anyone know where I can buy just the lower. I also have a walnut stock, brand new for this scout I want to sell. I would let it go for $100.00

    Quick question:
Just finished going through your videos again, good stuff. Anyway--Fixed rail issue not sure what happened but I have got bad accuracy decline problem average 2 moa now at 5+ using 168's 42.5 gr 4064 in LC brass. I saw a post that mentioned carbon build up on the crown. Within that post it mentioned not getting the FS on straight. Is that a real issue? I guess one more question. Is there a reasonably easy way to stiffen up the rear sight?
    Thanks,
    Keep making videos.

    Hello Tony,
I have used your videos regularly with great success, I have two questions. After several posts on looking for a JAE to put my standard scout in a wise person suggested starting out with a good fitting wood stock, Is Fred's a good place for that? and how do I seat a reciever nice and snug with no rear lug? I guess one more question--have you made a video on shimming the gas system?
    Thanks,
    Tom
