    Hello,

Someone in the M14 forum suggested I PM you. I'm 55, I ware corrective lenses (near sighted with heavy astigmatism) and have a problem with iron sights, the target fuzzes out somewhere past 50yrds. Any suggestions. I realize you are not a doctor and can't give out any medical advice but if you know of a trick or something I might employ so that I don't need a scope for 100yd+ shots, I would really like to hear from you. Thanks

Do you shoot right eyed, or left eyed? Scopes are normally set up to be optimal if you have corrected distance vision, so if you are making the entire lens to by the bifocal value (typically +2.00), you will get great up close vision, your distance will be all fizzy, and I don't imagine it will help you with your sscope.

Does your scope have parallax correction, or just eyepiece focus? Are you trying to shoot scope while using your eyeglasses, or without. I suspect we can find you a solution, thought the entire lens bifocal is not it, so I recommend you cancel that, if possible.

Can you send me your current distance prescription? shootingsight@nuvox.net

By the way, I am NOT an eye doctor. I am an engineer who understands some optical physics, and a photographer, so I know basics of lenses and depth of field. I do NOT know eye diseases, and I can not give any medical advice.

Thanks for your comments. Sounds like your profession is the eyes.

First, I shoot long rifle using a scope. When shooting the top of my lenses are my sight picture and not my bifocal. The right lense being prepared is all bifocal in the right lense to give me a shooting picture that can not be seen using the top of my lense. I don't know if it will work but my regular prescription definitely does not work. Just trying to figure it out.

Any suggestions are welcome. Would like to get back to competitive shooting.

I will pick up my M1A Loaded next week. I'm interested in one of your drop in triggers for the M1A, that you anticipate have ready in late October. Have any idea on price yet?

I am interested in purchasing the lens you have mentioned that fits into the aperture, do I need to send anything other than the payment? Nothing I am currently doing is working out well.

    Awaiting your reply..

Napkins and the backs of envelopes are the best tool science has to progress mankind. A little basics can go a LONG way in telling if you are in the ballpark, or in the next state.

Knew you were an engineer, just had to check your profile! I wanted to write what you did about the limits of solar power on the napkin for him but you did a much better job and expanded it to distillation.
