PaulGman, I am buliding a sling for my rifles. I want a TAC sling to carry the rifle patrol style, yet be able to configure a loop sling quickly for the best support possible.

    A couple of questions.

How often in combat did you shoot from the weakside?

With the TAC sling, one can let the sling out and roll the butt of the rifle over the sling into the weakside shoulder. Did you or your fellow Soldiers use a TAC sling in this way?

BTW, I finally decided to put the ACOG on by DSA SA-58 Para. It just wasn't working on the M1A. I have a cheek riser on it and it all lines up. I will need to take it to the KD range in the Spring to run a range test on the set up. I have decided to go with either a LP 3.5x10x30 Mildot or a Schmidt and Bender short dot CQB.

Hope all well. Haven't seen you in the forum much lately. Hopefully you have been on vacation or something good like that. Or maybe I just missed your posts. Thx lb

PaulGman, saw your socom pic in your album. Sweet. How'd you camo the rifle. A quick how-too would be great. I am going to work mine over next Spring when the weather warms up.

I am shooting 230's w/irons M1A on the RWVA AQT consistently, so I am ready to work in the ACOG and camo my rifle.

    Hope all is well.

Great information. I love the forum. Friendly experts at my fingertips. I live in the rocky mountains and I plan on sticking around the neigbhorhood if all possible. Using the binos to scout past 800 will be the norm not the exception. I think buying the 10x50 based on your recommendation is the way to go. Thanks a ton for the feedback, Lynn

PaulGman, I'm thinking about tactical optics and wanted to ask your opinion. I have never used glass tactically, maybe you can help me? I'm thinking about Vortex as the company for the lifetime warrany alone. The quality is reported to be top notch. I was going to buy this spotting scope http://www.vortexoptics.com/category/spotting_scopes
    What do you think?

For Binos I need help. Which should I buy?
    http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-rt-10x50-binocular

    or the Viper R/T 8x32?

The price difference is $300 for the bigger bino's, is the bigger bino's capability over the smaller worth the $300.

Have you ever used binos as a spotting scope tactically, or are the capabilities distinct enough to justify having the spotting scope and the binos?

    Thank you, lb

Do you already have the rail? If you do not I would suggest the purchase of a Sadlak rail. They have a kit that includes all the necessary parts and make this a very simple procedure. If you already have the rail I can walk you thru the procedure.
