Hello, I saw your post re; TRW M14 test rifle in 5.56mm. I owned this rifle for many years and state that it functions very well, is accurate, and reliably cycled the rounds in semi and full auto. The interesting thing is that the original magazine body appears to be atandard ar15/m16a1 but modified to function with a modified M14 mag release.

    Hey Laz,
Just wanted to say Thank You again for the great seminar in Victoria today!
I learned a lot from you about the M-14 that they never taught us in the Army.
I sent a wire to Frank to tell him how much I enjoyed it and how much I appreciated your help.
I'll be out at the range tomorrow punching some paper. I'll let you know where the holes show up!
    Cheers,
    Tom Hocking

BTW-- Here's my active thread on this forum:

I am a RETIRED gun smiter. I only work on my own guns now. I may do some gunsmiting for M14.Ca if Frank ever gets his shop in Duncan up and running. Just waiting on the CFC security inspection of the shop .

So did you get your 14 shooting reluably?? In particular, what advice did I give you that helped??

    HI lazerus,

Are you a M1A gunsmith in Canada? You have given me some great advice to fix my Norinco with a Krieger barrel that won't cycle properly.

I would be willing to let you work on it.

    Cheers,

While poking around for advice on a butt pad (yes, I too have shoulder damage), I ran across your info on the use/misuse of IRREGARDLESS. Personally, I don't really have time to correct folks. There's so many that need it and hopefully Darwin will catch up someday! But I do appreciate your doing so. Folks on the forum are a wealth of information and I appreciate that too. So thanks for the chuckle and insight. Very well done!

    Lazerus,

First let me say thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I have not found too many reviews on the mount, yet really like what I have found so far. It appears as though you have found a great solution to a longstanding problem.

I recently purchased a new Socom, (AA9626). Was really impressed with it's performance out of the box and now would like to scope it. Have you had any experience with the above gun and and the mount, in relation to the shorter length?

Look forward to your reply and thank you in advance!

Do you have a cut end from one of your conversions lying around?
I need just the front two inches or so of an M-14 or M1-A
The stuff in front of the gas cylinder lock where the flash hider goes is what I am interested in.

    I prefer a Bushnell 10 X tactical scope to the SS [ I've had both ].

I also prefer QUICK RELEASE rings, but this is a personal choice as I am always experimenting with different optic choices on my M14 rifles. Mostly I shoot short M14 rifles, and emphasize speed over accuracy.

Whatever brand of rings you choose, if you are shooting with a conventional M14 stock, get the lowest version available. The M14 with a scope really needs a cheek rest [ or a raised/ straight line butt stock like the AR 15 versions on the black feather ]for extracting best consistency and accuracy. Low rings help a bit with a conventional M14 stock, but the M14 really was not designed for scopes.
    Good luck.

I was looking into getting the CASM mount with maybe a SS 10x scope. I was wondering if you had any sugestions on what rings would be good with this combo? Thanks.

With the weight and heavy recoil of the M14 and 7.62 NATO cartridge, I want steel on steel for any stock folding joint

I've been admiring your DIY stock. I've been toying with using an ati pistol grip shotgun kit on an sai plastic stock... The kit seems a bit flimsy to me.

Have you come up with"joint" that could be attached allowing for alternative systems?

The BF alloy stock bedding is NOT rear lug compatible.

SAGE alloy EBR stocks have a well earned reputation for accuracy WITHOUT lugged receivers and the Military EBRs consistently are getting MOA or less from basically standard M14 rifles in the SAGE stocks. I predict the new BF stock will also earn a reputation for improving accuracy with a standard non-luggedM14 receiver.

But if you want to experiment with a lugged receiver in an alloy EBR stock with free floated barrel, we can sell you an UN-anodised BF alloy EBR stock, and you could have it milled out to fit your lugged receiver. I'd be interested in the results.

PS: I have achieved some MOA five shot 100 yd groups from a lightly tweaked M14 clone, so we know the BF stock, when properly tuned to the individual rifle and load, can extract very decent accuracy.
    So who needs lugs??

If you make an LRB M25 rear lug compatible Blackfeather RS, I'll loose control, and have to call Ted Brown and have him build a really sweat M14.

Some guy on CGN got scarred when I put the photos of your stock on CGN. Hey released some photos of his aluminium stock he has been working on for the past 2 years. It looks like a really good design. He focused on extreme wight reduction.

I was wondering maybe you guys should buy the design from him?

1.] The lower rail is integral to structural rigidity and reducing flex at the forearm. Since we will be using an ADJUSTABLE mechanism to anchor the barrel to the forearm, we wanted something fairly rigid to draw up to. The two side rails at the bottom forend ARE removable. Once the full length alloy railed hand guard / scope mount is finalised, the hand guard will also have a full length embedded rail at 12 o'clock [ of course ] plus slots for more removable rails at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock. The hand guard / scope mount combination, and the rails on the hand guard will be designed to stay in precise optical zero, because the hand guard / scope mount stays with the barreled receiver when the 14 is disassembled.

2.] The back of the pistol grip area is a PROTOTYPE. We are well aware that a proper smooth / contoured pistol grip is a requirement. We will be duplicating the AR 15 contour here.

thanks for the excellent PR work ...
