My question is , after the first stain application, the whole stock is dark brown? How do you get the golden highlights? Im receiving my first treeline big red in a few days, as for the cleaning and stripping I think I have a handle on that, but I can not figure out how folks get the two tone on stocks and guitars. Im sorry to say this baffles me.

It's in the wood or it ain't, that's what makes them so cool. Some people use hot irons, stain and a lot of other methods. But the fact is the wood tells the story.

Thanks from Snyper762 and Doug Carlton

Once you clean it up you'll see how the wood is naturally striped. Be careful dry sanding as it will take out the stripes (bad lesson to learn!) Once it is clean, rub it down with mineral oil you'll be able to get a good idea of what it will look like once it is oiled up.

I'm gonna try to have the rifle all together tonight. I don't have the talents with photography and wood work that Wes has so y'all will have to settle for cell pics. The stock looks even better in person.

Yep he will love it, please put a 20 round mag in it! That is the same rifle I'm fixing to embark upon building. Have you shot it?

Thanks from Snyper762

Saving it's cherry for him lol. He's getting a 20 with it as well. 10 works great off a bag.
