a good stanley plane or a sanding block will fix the issue.

That sucks. A m14 plate will probably be small, too. Slip-on Limbsaver?

OK fine, I'll start sanding....maybe.
Or I'll live with it. My modeling days are over anyway. My rifle is already prettier than I am.

Awards Showcase

All of the Boyd's stocks are oversized, for use on National Match rifles. Buttplate metal look OK, but rubber pads don't.

you can make a wooden plug for the top piece, and see if a pachmeyer pad is big enough.
make a tracing of the pad area

My loaded model has a metal butt plate, the stock is bigger than the metal. I choose to leave it be and shoot it.

From personal experience I have to say it's tough to use a rubber that's too small! I'd definitely try for a bigger one....
