French polish M14

This is a discussion on French polish M14 within the Stock forums, part of the Rifle Forum category; Looking forward to seeing it assembled, with any hand guard to start. I agree with Kurt, if you could find the right piece of wood....

Black vented doesn't show up very well unless you have stainless barrel under it.

Back in the '80s, Springfield used some commercial vented handguards out of a hard plastic. They were light brown in color and could be polished to a high gloss, like your stock.

There is an example of one on this rifle: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/589584620

Happy new year everyone! Meet "Blondie!" Very pleased with how the finish came out. Will be taking better photos soon.

If that young lady shoots as good as she looks, you might have to lock her up for her own good. Awsome, simply awsome.

Something to consider...

Here are a couple of the commercial pre-ban handguards used by SAI. They are a very hard plastic and can be gently polished up even more, to a nice gloss like your stock.

Beautiful piece of Walnut.
Great timing, I plan on replacing the plastic Springfield stock that came with.
I'll be taking notes
