Forgive the highjack but.

I'd like to do the same fill but to my Walnut USGI stock. I'd guess the JB weld or bondo would not blend in as I wish. Does anyone make a walnut filler piece that can be installed and will (nearly) match my stock color and texture?

I really don't want to buy another stock and cut it up to obtain the piece I want.

Ideas?

We use an aluminum insert that both fills the void and reinforces the stock in that area

If epoxy is used by itself, it will eventually show a separation line from the continual process of curing; if it does not separate first from stress and vibration.

Wanting to touch up FG stock for Scout. Anybody know of anyone selling aluminum insert like Wolfe's? Also thinking about fitting aluminum block for Garand buttplate. Any ideas?

I was just thinking.(dangerous huh)

I bet if someone made a silicone mould of the fun switch one could make a filler plug for that cutout.

Every time I start thinking about a project, it either cost's me $ or time, when I probably could have saved both buy just buying something else. Not nearly as much fun though.
