My Last M14 Stocks from Fred's
When I first heard of Fred's selling thier stock business to Treeline in early September I placed what would be my last M14 stock order with them before the cut off deadline. Over the years I have ordered quite a few stocks from them, I have enjoyed working on them and have gotten a few very good stocks. Getting a box from Fred's was kinda like Christmas morning when you were a kid, you didn't really know what was inside until you opened it up. I will miss getting stocks from Fred's and thier old school ways, good or bad, something that you don't see much these days.
I had not heard anything from them and contacted them in early November, after a call and two emails I received a shipping notice last week, the stocks came in today.
I got two stocks on this last order. A "Vietnam" Special and a "Vietnam" SAW stock, both with slings and hand guards, Jack added one on the "scarce", early black handguards as this orders freebie.
The SAW stock actually has some nice grain and should clean up and look sharp!
I have gotten a few of the "Vietnam" stocks in the past and they all cleaned up well. I have more M14 stocks then I will ever need, sometimes you just like having something to work on, and these old stocks speak to me. With the passing of Fred's, just seems like another sign of the passing of an era.
