Another Fred's question.

Typically when I place an order on-line, etc., I'll capture the last page as a confirmation. Apparently I didn't do that with an order 9/12 with Fred's. So, perhaps not surprisingly under the circumstances, I haven't received a confirmation. Nor did I write down the password, assuming I registered on his site. IIRC, I only ordered a $85 synthetic stock and a handguard.

His site suggests one can sign in to check order history. No "Sign In" seems to be present on the menu bar. But: Do you need to actually register to order? If not, maybe I didn't and signing in won't work to check this single order history. Because I'm not/never signed in?

So should I call while he's probably swamped or should I wait a while and see what happens? Or just wait for a similar item(s) on PX/BX or Treeline?

If you did not order as a registered customer, but as a guest instead, you will not be able to access your order history. You should call him directly, Jack is in the middle of selling his business right now and he will be done with it by the 23rd of September. Treeline is taking over.

Call him as soon as you can, if you included your e-mail address on your order, he should be e-mailing you a confirmation soon.

His web site can be tricky, you can try to place an order, but do not complete it, it will ask you to sign in/register. If you forgot your password, it will send you your password via e-mail.

HTH.

Got through to him today. He found the order. He said he'd be sending an email soon. Apparently there can be an issue with some cards (Mastercard?) if the order isn't shipped in 5 days so I updated it with a Visa Card. ?? If that's really the case, that doesn't bode well for some of the older orders out there, perhaps requiring more contacts and card updates potentially?? Anyway, while it may be slow, it shouldn't be big deal.

Got a call but didn't feel the phone buzz. He left a voice mail but said nothing. No answer - mb full on call back. So, the wait continues. Not going to worry about it. Probably get a ton of calls or emails (on all kinds of things next week while on vacation. Oh well.)

His site has been updated a bit so just going to let things perk. Not an emergency. anything I was going to do to a fiberglass, I can likely do much the same to the "Plastic" stock my standard came in/on.

This is a big issue. Don't run the cards until he has the order picked. Or pick and ship the order within 5 days.

And yes CC companies have issues with cards being run, then a charge coming through again weeks and months later, This is usually considered possible fraud.

Was not able to get through before leaving for vacation. Returned to find a voice mail to call him, some issue. Yet I have received an invoice with tracking number - and it's a bad number, format issues? spaces? Will call tomorrow.

Finally got him by phone Tuesday. He wanted a credit card number. Not sure why the others weren't working, no calls for fraud issues, not sure if he hamhanded the submittals on their terms, whatever, etc. Told me he had the box right there after finding it and I'd get an email confirmation before 5:00 pm local that day. Nothing received yet. Last chance tomorrow, going to try calling again and will likely cancel. He's east coast, I'm west coast so times are difficult to match up.

Not sure if he's impacted by the hurricane but, still could have made a call or sent a note, he's got two phone numbers, e-mail and three card numbers to deal with.

My question for you guys who have been through this before is "when is it time to pull the plug"?

I'm waiting on two orders - one is 3 months old for a stock, another 1 month for generic stuff. I've gotten through twice. Each time it was like the first time he'd looked at the order. Each time I had to give him my CC info again. Each time it was "it will probably go out next week"...

I got an "order edit" email Wednesday. i was thinking he was canceling one or more items but it was a change in shipping to actual shipping. But no tracking number or further emails. Did it ship?

I'm batting .500 with him. First order (3 stocks) got to me blazingly fast. Second order (~Sept 10, 2 handguards and 3 repack kits) - crickets. I've tried calling him, he doesn't answer and his voicemail is full.

Thanks from mike in pa

My order edit changed to actual shipping costs but the tracking number had extra spaces or something and UPS tracking didn't recognize it. However, I've had orders generated at various places where a number is pulled but UPS hasn't actually received the package, etc. I'll be entertaining (so to speak) at a Pumpkin Patch this weekend so won't get a chance to do much for a while. So, maybe a couple more days and I'll pull the pin on this. What's he going to do? Charge re-stocking? He hasn't been able to charge yet so... not too worried about that.

Finally Got it!

Finally got it today. Never got a confirmation e-mail. He threw in the typical stack of information sheets - which look to have quite a bit of useful (I'm not a really experienced rifle shooter) info at first glance. Also got a "very good early scarce black" handguard, which looks to be in better shape than the excellent I ordered. Pleased with the condition of the stock, a few smallish little rubs and some tape reside, otherwise looks to be in very good shape. The butt plate has some bare metal but not gouged up, scratched, etc. Hand corrected invoice, handwritten card number then over-written so not entirely sure which card was charged, we'll see when the bills arrive.

Packaged appropriately, cardboard sleeve for the stock and bubble wrap on the handguards.

Thanks from nf1e

September Order Received

Ordered 2 Big Red Birch select plus stocks and a few odds & ends back in mid-September. They arrived today. I didn't request striping, but I received a W-W with about 20%, nice shape except for field expedient trigger bedding. Good restoration candidate. The other is unremarkable, looks previously sanded with butt plate overhang at the toe. Got an extra hand guard for free. Transaction involved two phone call--one by me at about 10 days and one from Jack because his e-commerce software wasn't storing or printing CC numbers. Wish the second stock had a bit more meat to work with, but overall satisfied.

I've ordered several items from Fred's and its usually always a different order outcome -- the product result has always been very pleasing and on time, and priced right. I like 'em.
