Not to hijack the thread, but is a NM stock the same size as a super match stock?

I think SAI offers both of them in either oversized or a McMillan

Don't like the feel of those stocks. Handled similarly oversize Garand 'match' stocks.

They're wood and thicker = stiffer. The M1/M14 stocks are kinda weak in the mag/trigger group area. They wood gets real thin when ya go to bed them , relieve the wood for bedding compound , so a thicker stock give more room to work.

Modern synthetic stock are stiffer than wood.

The original GI fiberglass stocks weren't all that strong in those areas either.

Modern synthetic stock is stiffer than wood I thought the Springfield M1A synthetic stock is to flimsy for a NM rifle

I think the thicker, heavier NM stocks were made to better fit the more manly men. Just like a man's bicycle is much bigger and heavier than a boy's bicycle, the NM stocks are thicker, heavier, stiffer, and stronger than the standard issue stocks, many of which were made out of plastic just like many toys.

Myself, I like M14 stocks custom made from high strength steel.
