Bought a C stock on here for my 03A3, and found out the other day when I went to swap the rifle over that it isn't inletted for the 03A3. Not necessarily a problem, as I love an excuse to build another rifle in the future, but it has me kind of curious in regards to the stock and naturally its worth.
I'm not home at the moment so unfortunately don't have any photos on hand. But as far as marking:
AAS and BA-WL next to the cutoff, denoting Benecia Arsenal and Augusta Arsenal rebuilds. according to what I've found.
The presence of both serif and a block style Proof marks on the grip. My understanding is serif was used earlier, then changed over to block type.
There is an S stamped in the cutoff, denoting a Springfield stock. My understanding is they only made stocks during the interbellum period, and relied on outside manufacturers such as Keystone during WW2.
And most curiously, there is a block style T stamped on top, directly behind where the rear of the receiver heel rests.
As far as I can tell there are no other stamps and none that were sanded off. Stock is in good shape, but does have the usual dings and scratches you would expect from a rifle that was rebuilt twice. Their is no relief cut for the bolt handle such as on A4 stocks.
So what exactly do I have here? Any ideas?
