so today I got home and checked the progress and decided to put it together. Finish is not sticky and is already pretty tough. I do reccimend only two coats of your going to be using the rifle the next day.
And here is a close up of the rail after removal of the acog. It holds up great so far.
So I finally decided on aervoe coyote for my black scar after skill craft Tan obliterating compound was too light.
I used a scotch pad on the aluminum and a microfiber cloth on the plastic both soaked in reagent grade acetone. I removed the barrel assembly and rear sight and taped so that no paint would enter the reciever or trigger module.
Then I apply 3 coats in 20 min intervals then let dry for 1 hour before moving in doors. Magpul afg2 for reference
I was very scared to do the acog, and I ran out of paint too so it's not perfect but I'm pleased with the result. Notice in the full light it looks more tan and in the closet with the one 60watt it looks more brown.
The deep dark color is great. I should really wait 1.5-2 weeks for full cure but I'll liked put it back together in a few days but def won't shoot it for 14 days.
They say this paint is between krylon and allumahyde as far as toughness so we will see.
So far I like this 100% better than durcoat for one simple reason, reflectivity on the durcoat is real bad. This stuff is perfectly flat, but not tacky or powdery like the skill craft tan obliterating compound (also an extremely flat non-reflective compound)
