There are some incredible stocks that show up here on our classifieds quite often also, that is a very nice stock but you are right about it being pricey.
It will not sell...... some people on gunbroker tend to shoot the moon on prices hoping that someone comes along who either, 1) don't know any better, or 2) have so much money they are crazy spenders.
Then, in our local market for used guns, et cetera, the sellers are quick to point out "well they are bring X$ on gunbroker".... and you want to say: no they don't, they are listing high, doesn't mean they sell for that -- people over ask. Even our pawn shops will quote prices from gunbroker.......
I take "unissued" to mean that it was never issued to troops. Clearly it left the factory on a rifle, probably a minty one that was demilled in the 90's or converted to an EBR by Rock Island Aresenal.
As for the price? It would need to be a drop-dead gorgeous piece of walnut. RNGR2
That's way too munch, even though it would probably turn out really nice. Also on personal note; I wouldn't buy another wood stock, unless it had pictures of an action locked down with the front band off so I know the stock isn't warped.
You got that right! Not to long ago, someone wanted a front sight I had so bad, he gave me $100 for it. I had no plans to sell it, but he wanted it real bad.
That stock is a $300 stock at best. Nice, but I have seen better figured and nicer condition stocks sell for less. If you want a nice figured elite M14 stock, patients is key.
I spoke to the seller and told him $500 is entirely too high a price, let alone a starting bid, for the walnut stock. In my opinion, it may fetch $350-$375 if fully refinished (which it isn't).
He said he paid $500 for it several years ago, and that's what he needed to sell it for. He added that he was in no hurry to sell it. I couldn't help thinking, "Well, you have no worries there."
It's a nice stock...but it ain't $500 nice. I have one exactly like it, down to the last grain of figure in the wood, hanging in the garage drying after being stripped last weekend. I think I paid $175 for it, with the all the metal.
