Been doing a little stripping in my spare time...

Don't know what will become of this yet. It's the original black textured stock that came with my M1A standard.

If I ever decide to go scoped again, I may install a kydex cheek riser and stiffen the forearm. I can't see drilling holes in my Kevlar stock so this one will be the candidate.

Tony.

Whew, stripping your stock, thank God. I guess I'm the only one who clicked on this post with the thought of, "I don't want to see tonyben working a brass pole or with dollars hanging out of a man thong."

GUTTER BRAINS!

Aw c'mon, you all know me better than that... :)

This was with 2 treatments of citri-strip. That textured finish is really a bear to get off.

So, Tony, is there good money in that? I've been thinking about a career change. You don't have to sleep with anyone, do you?

Thanks from Vermin, GARRARD and TheTurtle

As with anything, I suppose there's good money if you're good at it.

As far as sleeping with anyone, you'd have to ask someone with skills more desirable than mine.

Ask Whamo Camo...

The real question is... were you disappointed when you saw the stock?

Totally disappointed, just don't tell my girlfriend.

On a note of the other kind of stripping. I just re-stained a birch stock, and coated it with three coats of polyurethane. I wanted a glossy finish, and it turned out pretty well.

Any thoughts on poly-e? Is it a suitable finish for a rifle stock? Anything better to get a glossy finish? Something that cures faster?
