M1A Walnut Stock Touch-Up Question

I have SA Super Match that I had in storage for long time and small section of stock has became sticky (mold?).
I’ve wiped the area with mild soapy solution and stickiness is all gone but now the area appears to be dry compared to other area.
The last thing I want to do is to re-finish the whole stock.
Any recommendation on touch up method ?

Thanks,

A couple rubdowns of boiled linseed oil oughta do the trick :)

Quick fix stock finish

Pull the rifle out the stock and remove butt plate. Then take 6"x6" piece of old "t" shirt and wipe down with acetone. The entire length of the stock to get a uniform base/substrate thus removing any excess existing finish. Then take either linseed oil(boiled) or tung a few drops in the palm rub the stock and remove excess after letting it set 5-10min with clean 6x6 rag. Dispose of rags in water to avoid possible fire plastic pop bottle filled with water w/ rags inside. Or Brownell's sells Pilkington Classic Gunstock Finish just wipe down generously with cotton rag let it set 5-10 min wipe of excess. Your choice either works: one is an hour project and the other a couple hours. Its not rocket science just maintenance on the stock once every year or two.

Tung Oil finish...a drop or two, carefully ribbed into the area may be all you need. Rub in..let it dry a few minutes, wipe it down with a soft cloth. VERY fine steel wool, like XXXX, LIGHTLY over the area will make it blend in and honestly, you should be able to rub it in, wipe it down as a spot treatment and need little else. Maybe a fine, dark wax over the whole stock and polished lightly would seve as a final, overal blend.
