Hopefully someone can share their experience with this stain.

I already ordered some, just waiting for it to get here.if no one responds then I guess I will be the guinea pig.my main concern is the color, mainly wanting to know if it's on the red side like the pre 64 stain or chestnut ridge.

From the info on the site it's an alcohol based stain. If it needs more red it would be easy to use another alcohol based stain with it.

Well my bottle of Dixie gun works antique stain arrived yesterday.underneath the Dixie gun works label is to my surprise Fiebings leather dye.lol, they just slapped their own label on top of the Fiebings label and maybe added some red to what seems to have started as dark brown.I like this stuff, tested it on a Garand stock i had laying around and it came out really nice.after i applied the stain which really sucked in the grain by the way.I rubbed some pure tung oil and it gave it a really nice patina.I'm sold and I like the color versus chestnut ridge.cheaper too,3.50 vs.15.00 for the chestnut ridge.color wise i think that Dixie gun works looks a bit better or more correct.I will post pics as soon as the stock is done soaking up the rest of the tung oil.stay tuned!

Nice, what did you type in the search?I missed that one.from the Gunny to boot, thanks for passing that on brother.heres a couple of pics next to a SA/GAW stock, the empty stock has 2 rubbed coats of that dixie stuff.pretty close i think.considering that stock was originally a lighter colored walnut.hopefully i will get the same color results on a new walnut stock I'm workin on.what do you think SAC?too red???

"Fiebings leather dye and dixie".
I like the color but then I like the red accent in wood stocks. Every piece of wood is different so you just have to see. The nice thing with the leather dye is you can adjust the amount of color to suit your tastes.

Thanks from fortymikemike
