this is my early HRA. The up side is I saved her from a local pawn shop, the down side is she had her original 1-54 HRA barrel completely shot out when I got her. I mean she swallowed the TE and ME guages.
I bought a new 06' Criterion barrel from DGR and had her re-built by my local smith.
Whoever her previous owner was tried to make a match rifle out of her and repoxied the handguard to the lower band. They also epoxied the gas plug into the gas cylinder. It took the direct heat of a cutting torch on low heat to get the gas plug out. The front and rear handguards were replaced as the originals were ruined to get the rifle disassembled.

With the price of energy on the rise. I like to keep watch over my wood supply.
M1C with Griffin and Howe mount and reproduction M84. She shoots like a dream.
Only wet when its raining. The ammo in stripper clips was for an earlier photo with bolt rifles.

My Two

WRA and SA all matching with correct drawing # parts -WRA has a WRA barrel even. SA was made on the same day as #1,000,000. Both were ex Danish rifles, hence the Navy rack # on the SA. It still has it's 1942 barrel as well. I just like the serial #s on them

Yesterday was my first trip to the CMP South Store for my first M1.

I ALMOST picked up a SG Winchester in the 1.3mil range, that had a Win trigger group with SA Bolt and Barrel, and IHC Gas Plug...but I wanted something to shoot and not collect.

So CMP Special Grade in .30-06
Besides the Criterion barrel, and a HRA Trigger housing, everything else is SA. Of course, being reparked the collector value is gone, but I'll enjoy shooting it guilt free this way.

And oh yea, I chose this one because I still wanted a little vintage.

Receiver manufacture date was May 1942

i'll be sure to take more when I finish the stock. But for now I'm still grinning. And I'm understanding the garanditis crowd.
