Great thread! The M1 is my very favorite rifle of all.

Here's mine, obtained from the DCM in 1985 for $108.

It came to me as a Springfield Armory gun, the serial number indicating a receiver produced in October of 1943. The barrel is SA 6-44, the op rod revision matches receiver date and is uncut and the trigger housing group is mixed, all WWII parts. Stock is nicely marked WWII production. I've wondered if it was rehab'ed at the end of World War II but never subsequently issued until it "mustered out."

I've shot the hooey out of it. It has seen heavy high-power use for over 20 years along with a lot of other shooting. The stock hasn't been sanded but is worn slick from handling. It hasn't been monkeyed with other than a trigger job once that later "went bad" and had to have parts replaced. It handily whips my M1A from off the bench rest.

My brother-in-law and I indulging in taking out an "invasion" of 80-something gallon milk jugs full of water at 180-220 yards at his place a couple of years back. The M1 turns the jugs into instant individual irrigation systems.

"A splendid time is guaranteed for all!"

WOW love the garands gents. I have 2 garands and am currently trying to bring one back to how she should look as the guy I bought it from had put some kind of black paint on the metal and put her in a synthetic camo stock ... I'm going to have it blasted and then parked, install a wood stock/handguards if I can find one in CanaDUH? I was going to purchase a DGR beautiful stock but they don't export to my damn country. :( Once again beautiful rifles gents. Cheers from the great white north,

Here's a custom-built, chambered...

...in 7.62mm NATO.

It's a custom receiver, with a two-stage match trigger, Redfield Palma rear, Redfield Olympic front, glass bedded.

Yesterday, I managed to get a five-shot group with one flier, and the other in one ragged hole (100 yards). Standard LC GI ammo.

WRA CMP Special

"New production stock and handguard set with CMP cartouche, a new production barrel and new web sling."

If they offered them it would look something like this.

(This started out as a rack grade woodless WRA)

That is a most impressive rifle! Thanks for sharing. Do you shoot highpower with it?

SInce I was uploading photos, I thought I would post a few of my M1 30 Caliber rifles. I don't have a favorite, well, I really like my 1941 SA.
