my 2

1st is a June of 1942 SA, I've made I'd say 90% correct. Still need a narrowbase gas cylinder. Othe is all HRA with a refinished CMP pumpkin stock.
Lots of nice rifles in this thread.

Here's my girl Laura.

It's a 1942 Springfield. It was rebuilt in 1965 - new barrel and all - and it looks like it wasn't fired much if at all since then.

I've been mostly happy with it since I got it 10 years ago, but something just wasn't right. So - after paying attention to Wade's stock work I degreased Laura's stock, smoothed it up, and have been laying the teak oil to it. Now it practically GLOWS. So, THANK YOU, Wade!

Here's my hardest M1 "restoration" to date, has a lot of early 1940 era parts, along with a few reproduction parts too (gas system/barrel, recoil spring/follower rod, stock and buttplate). Anyhow, its fully shootable and kind-of neat...

Replica gas trap on a 43k receiver (June 1940):

Type 2 gas trap front end (Rat Worx kit I bought a few years back):

Flush nut early rear sight:

Dual-spring set-up:

Slide show:

I'll never have a real/original gas trap M1, but I am happy with this neat replica M1.

Thanks from Rich D and Allen Humphrey

Fulton Armory also re-parkerized the rifle and they did a great job.

Yes they did. Beautiful.

These two are waiting on me to adopt a M1a.
The carbine is a Quality Hardware and Machine Corporation 1943 build.
The M1 is a S.A.- Bluesky Armory refurb.

Several years back, a friend and I made the trip to Anniston. We each borrowed chamber and muzzle gauges and spent several hours wandering through checking throats and muzzles of the rack grades. Besides field grade and parts, was all they had at the time. I found two that the throats and muzzles measured less than one and one had what we believe to be a national match barrel. We came home with three rifles and two cases of Greek ammo. Was a wonderful trip. The only thing "correct" about them is that they are mine. I'm not sure why but this is the only picture I have.
Minus the grease and dirt, just the way I found it.
