Head space problems

I was wondering if any of you out there in Carbine land have any ammo problems with your rifles. I have a CMP Inland that I have been having problems with. When I initially bought the rifle I was shooting PMC ammo with zero problems in 500 rounds. Then I bought some HSM new manufactured ammo and began having problems on the very first shot. I was having failure to fire. Light primer strikes, and often times the bullet would come out of the case and jam in the barrel and dump all the powder in the action. Could not even finish a magazine without 2 or 3 failures. Called HSM and they immediatly offered to exchange the ammo. Did so and was still having the same problems. Checked headspace with a go/no go gauge, good. Replaced hammer spring and slide spring, did not work. Cleaned cleaned and then cleaned some more. Same problem. Tried that ammo in a friends carbine, same problem in his rifle. So at this point I am now convinced that it has to be ammo. So yesterday my freind brings up several bolts for me to try just for a last resort. Change out my flat bolt for a round like my rifle should have, check with the go/no go gauge, checks good. Load up step to the line and 60 rounds later, NO PROBLEMS! Primer strikes are much deeper. However now the rifle seems to recoil harder than before and several time the first round out of the mag does not seat in the bolt face, Stays on top of the extractor. Cases all look good no signs of excessive pressure or blown primers. Action does feel stiffer and hammer sound like it hits a lot harder. Will clean again this weekend, get all the dumped powder out of the action, Had another bullet pop out of the case and dump powder in action before bolt swap. Cleaned as best possible while at range when bolt swap was done but can only clean so well with a small screwdriver and rag. That powder makes a hell of a mess in a heavily greased rifle! So any thoughts or similar experiances out there? Let me know.

While I cannot explain why your bullets are jamming in the barrel and coming out of the case, DO NOT grease your carbine. Buy a can of brake cleaner at an automotive shop and spray the piss out of the receiver and especially the bolt. Then, lightly oil the receiver and bolt. The carbine's bolt and springs are light, so heavily greasing them only slows things down.

Oh trust me I did brake clean the piss out of it! Use oil instead of grase though? First time I have heard that for a carbine. I'll try. I am still suspicious of the ammo, they already told me they would refund my money. I think I will try some more rounds to see how it goes. I am pleased with HSM customer service, this is by no means a trash on their ammo. It is accurate, just can't decide if it is an ammo problem due to what seems to be unburnt powder/bullet lighty stuck in bore, or rifle problem from light primer strikes. They did tell me they do use hard military primers. Just a little confused with the fact that the PMC ammo functioned fine.
