Correct way to install fabric sling?

I've got a couple of these laying around courtesy of the CMP and need to install them on my M1's. What is the correct way to install them? A pic would be nice if anyone has one. Thanks.

If I were you, or if you were me, I would, you would, rig it so the adjuster and the release tab and the end flap of the strap are on the outside of the rifle. This prevents stock damage from the ears of the adjuster and makes the sling much easier to adjust. The clip-on open end is still towards the rifle. In other words, the clip on is orientated as in ray-vin's pictures, but everything else is exactly opposite.

Just my opinion, but it works very well for me. Sorry I don't have a picture with me. Maybe I could take one and post it when I get home tonight.

Sorry, I just noticed that the link at the bottom of ray-vin's page explains exactly what I am talking about. This is opposite of the pictures on ray-vin's page and is my preferred method.

Try 'em both. Whatever works best for you.

Sgt. Mike, +1! That's the way we used 'em in the mid to late 70's on our M14's.
