All Correct December 1941 Garand

Not sure if I have ever posted this one before or not, but shes another I will always hang onto. Completely correct Springfield 1941 Garand.
Before anyone says anything, yes the sights are correct. They do look somewhat similar to the later T105 Post War rear sights but are actually Spanner/Flush Nut sights which predate lock bar sights

Fellow shooter in my area considers your rifle as "the Holy Grail" for Garand collectors and won't tell him about yours or he would hunt you down and beg, borrow, steal the rifle from you. Very nice indeed.

December 1941?

Are you saying that the receiver was made in December 1941?

If so that doesn't mean the rifle was assembled in December 1941.
It's possible but not guaranteed.

Whats the barrel date?

Nice rifle though, it's a keeper.

I understand it may not have been assembled in 1941 but theres a darn good chance with there being a War on.
I believe there were approx 28,282 receivers manufactured in Dec. 1941, divide by 31 days assuming Christmas was worked due to delcaration of war, 912 rifles were built per day. Was probably made the first few days of Dec.
The whole rifle is correct, barrel date 12/41

Thanks from RDS, XM25Ren, CeeJay and 2 others

Hang onto it forever. Beautiful piece of history!

I had a correct H&R and a correct Springfield that I let get away. I just had to have a Harley.

Very Nice Rifle. At one time I focused on early Garands for my collection and managed to collect 4 original, correct 1941 rifles in excellent condition. I have #381854 which was built in November, less than a month before yours. I believe that Springfield was working 6 days a week prior to Dec 7, 1941. They did go to a 7 day a week operation right after Pearl Harbor. Bill, is the stock a long channel or a short channel?
Brian

Awards Showcase

It's not often I see a late '41 Garand that's not a Lend Lease, thanks for sharing, that one's a beauty and the rear sight is the same as my SA Lend Lease sn 397095 w/a 11/41 barrel.

Scott's red book lists 421106 w/a 12/41 barrel, I'm sure you've seen this in his book, your's is right in there for 12/41.

Mac

Very nice! ...and what a find!

I've got an AUG '41 Springfield... unfortunately it isn't anywhere as complete and gen-u-wine as yours, it's a FedOrd rebuild.
