IBM Carbine

Where there any variations on the receiver markings for the IBM M1 Carbine.

At a show I have seen one carbine receiver marked, "INTL BUS MACHINE serial number 3911---

Anyone have any info on the serial number range for the IBM carbine or details about such a marking.

As far as I know IBM's were marked I.B.M. Corp. Serial no. 3896... is so marked. But I am no expert.

The very earliest IBMs were hand stamped I.B.M. without CORP following it. When they started machine marking them it was I.B.M. CORP. I've never seen the marking you quoted in your post. Can you post a picture?

I've got one with a Buffalo Arms barrel on it, appears to be original to the rifle.

Despite Buffalo's low reputation for accuracy it's a shooter, 3-4 MOA with Winchester hollow soft nose and Federal AE RN. For a carbine with a BA barrel that ain't bad.

Hello, Thanks Jim W for correcting that site link.
I was just 6 hours out of hernia surgery. I hasn't quite thinking straight. If I had been I would have bought one or two of those .062 front sights that RS had posted last night.
Thanks again JW for the correction.
