M24 at the range, first outing

Remington 700 M24 SWS, Badger ordinance 20 MOA rail, Larue Tactical quick disconnect mount, and a Leupold Mk IV 4.5-14x50mm. Initial shots from a sled cradle, final with the Harris Bipod.

Started with a box of Federal GMM 175 Gr at an estimated 2600 FPS. Did a boar sight at the house on a target that was about 80 Yards away.

First shot at 100 yds was way low, didn't see it at first . 8 1/2" low, 3" Left. Moved to 25 yds, three shots, 3 1/2 low, tad over 1/2 left. .527" group, smiling at this point. moved to 50 yds, .28".

100 Yds. Shooting and adjusting the scope after each group. .553", .67", .3935" and finally .552"

Switched to the Hornady 178 Gr ELD-X, estimated 2600 FPS. One test shot with Federal 175 GMM, 1/2" low. First 3 178 Gr ELD-x, 1/2" high, 1/4 Rt. .459", switched from the cradle to the bipod. Still smiling. 1 1/14", 2", not thrilled. Settled in and repositioned and the last group was .447".

Think I'll start doing test loads with the 178 gr ELD-X.

OK it's a keeper.
