Standard Products M1 Carbine 2,172,
Haven't dabbled in Carbines until now, the CMP Garands have kept me satisfied since 97' my first Service grade. The "C" receiver availability years back satisfied me need to build a rifle, a Italian Typo/2. Now I have a new challenge with military history. Should I get involved in a M1 Carbine?
This STDP M1 Carbine has a Type III RMC bolt, VG bore 12/43 UEF barrel, type IV H.I. hammer, type IV safety, type III mag catch, type I NPM rear sight, original S-HB type II low wood stock/hand guard and other parts seen correct for this rifle. Wood has a coat of varnish and no rebuild marks has a few dents but serviceable and sound. Butt plate has a black paint on it. Finish is good to very good original parkerizing. My main concern is the trigger housing has been ground on at front of magwell sides and corner. More than half the thickness is removed down by pin. I think to ease removal from the varnished stock? Collector value is one dilemma but how is it for a shooter and what price would anyone give with the liability of this damage? Any help appreciated
