Oh the passion (pains?) that goes into building an accurate clone. I looked at them M24s when they were available and am still looking at that but the Jarhead likes what the Jarhead likes. The hardest part was finding the lens covers, which I lucked into 5 of them.

I am not a jarhead, but I do like the USMC M40A5 rifles too. Got mine last year and had some work done to make it correct. Its a heavy rifle, but its quite accurate....

...I shot it back in Sept at the Quantico vintage sniper rifle match. (300 and 600 yds), but unfortunately couldn't make it the following day for the 800 and 1000 yard match...maybe next time.

Yes, that is quite a find. I got a set on eBay for more than I care to admit...I just got the correct sling but have not yet installed it, but its the final piece for that project.

Thanks from Chingon

Here's my M24R

Here's the dwployment kit. She's an excellent shooter and came with all of the spare parts. I had to buy the iron sight set separately.

That's purdy. Unfortunately I have yet to stretch the legs out on mine. I need to!

I like that kit - matching scope and looks like a matching bipod too (I'm jealous...)

Thanks from russmerle

Thanks Random Guy that's what sucked me in to buying it. It was missing the bipod attachment screw so had to buy a new one. Other than that the painted parts included the stock, scope, bipod, rings and rail. They are expensive but calculating cost to build one with the additional spare parts and equipment really made the kit a true discount!

Op, I'm sure these rifles will come up for sale again. I saw one like mine (minus case) at a gun store near a base I was TDY to. Guy said he had a hard time selling it for the $1800. I Would make my rounds at all of your local stores and keep looking online.

Thanks everyone. I am pretty familiar with the rifle and the program. Remington has not updated the web site in years. I have saved the vendors that have had them on gun broker so I will start my search there.

Here's a M24 Rebuild thread from the old Sniper's Hide website. It might be the one "7 of 1" is referring to in post #2. It shows some of the rebuild rifles, deployment kits and other associated gear.

Some of the tough items to find that were not part of the Remington Program are the original flash hider (beware of reprods), M144 spotting scope, and Eagle Industries drag bag/mat.

Enjoy!

Mm

PS Here is the M24 build thread from the old Sniper's Hide website. http://forum.snipershide.info/showth...hlight=rebuild

PSS: 3-5-17 Looks like the new Snipers Hide changed the links and they don't go where they used to. They were great threads on the M24. I'll leave them. Maybe someone can track them down in an archive somewhere.

Just picked up a new in the box Remington 700 M24

Just got mine yesterday in a shop in western VA. (Not West VA). Traded a couple of hand guns and some cash for the M24 SWS.

$2900, new in the box with manual. Some had the mount for the iron sight, no scope base. Just the rifle and GI issue manual.

I ordered a 20 MOA Badger scope mount and will do some range testing next weekend.

It's the old version of the HS Precision M24 stock. The new versions have an adjustable cheek rest.
