You can use a Lyman 577 minie ball and 50 to 60 grains of ffg (by volume) or fffg (by volume) black powder. I think the ffg is a period correct charge. Just make sure the ball is seated firmly against the powder. I use Goex powder but I have also used 777. With 777 you have to reduce your charge by 10%. Use hot water and dish soap for cleaning.
